![]() ![]() People have secrets and pasts that they are reluctant to share.Ītmospheric and tense, this book is a page turner. As the story unfolds there is a realisation that I was totally drawn in to the story of Kyle and his family in the small outpost of Hampden on the Newfoundland coast.ĭonna Morrissey really captures the claustrophobic atmosphere of a small coastal town, where everyone is either related or knows one another. I suppose if I was Canadian then it would have been easier. I could understand the language but how to pronounce what they were saying was a bit difficult. When I first started reading the book I found the language of the characters quite difficult. Thanks to Nicole Sweeney at Canongate Books for copies of The Fortunate Brother by Donna Morrissey for the DI Book Club. ![]()
